The first day of spring!

The Grand Budapest Hotel

Last weekend, we saw The Grand Budapest Hotel and absolutely loved it. There were a few moments when I even forgot we were in a movie theater. I would suddenly snap out of my reverie and realize, Oh, right, I'm surrounded by people—not actually in the movie.

The characters had real warmth and depth (unlike the affected characters in some of his other movies), and I adored how it was a love story of sorts between a man and his protégé. Have you seen it? What did you think? I don't want to give to much away, but I thought I'd share these cool gifs...
P.S. Wes Anderson is obsessed with centering. And my favorite movie of last year.

Crazy art exhibit

This past weekend, my aunt, Toby and I walked up to the Chelsea art galleries to see these busts by Chinese artist Li Hongbo. Although his classical statues look as if they're made from marble, they're actually carved from thousands of sheets of paper that was glued together. So, if you pick them up, the busts will stretch and twist like a slinky!
Watch the video...how crazy is that?! The artist was inspired by Chinese paper lanterns.

(The exhibit runs through March 22nd.)

B.J. Novak's brilliant book

Have you read B.J. Novak's new book, One More Thing? I knew it would be funny, but I was surprised to find how beautiful, wise and poignant many of the short stories are. There's one about wearing a red shirt to meet your soulmate, another about dealing with a friend's drinking problem, another about growing older. The stories are different lengths—some are 18 pages, others are just a few sentences. It's one of those books you're excited to read at the end of a long day—you actually laugh out loud and then think about the story as you're falling asleep.
Here's the hilarious book trailer with B.J. and Mindy Kaling (totally worth watching). And the audiobook has appearances by Mindy Kaling, Jason Schwartzman, Lena Dunham, Rainn Wilson, Emma Thompson and other awesome actors. I'd love to hear it!

When we were little, my dad watched every Grand Prix and Formula 1 race, and, although I liked to sit in his lap while he watched, I was never all that interested. Until! This video of the Ferrari team doing a pit stop in TWO SECONDS is totally mindblowing. Seriously. Worth watching. They are so cool under pressure.

Citrus wreath

My mom is under strict instructions not to check my blog tonight because I actually sent her this California citrus wreath for her birthday, and it's arriving tomorrow! Isn't it lovely? The eucalyptus leaves smell fresh, and the lemon and orange slices would brighten up your home in the winter. I think it would look nice in her kitchen or bedroom. (Did you know the scent of citrus helps reduce stress?)
